Sébastien Schemmel
Weirdist Hammer of the Year winner ever.

Had a great season, had a poor second season then went to Portsmouth for one year then disappeared, never to be seen again.

Where is he now?

Don't forget about Faubert - he had a good half hour with us and Real Madrid jumped in for him!

Of course, some do still manage to look shite from the start. I'm looking at you, Razvan Rat.

Re: Sébastien Schemmel
He did look great for a season but if you look at the full backs (or even not full backs, but centre halves, central midfielders, and wingers playing there) that we've had over the last 15 years or so there aren't many names that stand out. The fact that, as has been pointed out already, you could put Ilunga and arguably Cresswell into the same category of 'great for a season, then not so good' to varying extents does start to suggest a pattern. Even Antonio's messianic season was at least partly down to his performances at right back, and I'd add Lucas Neill too although that may be a bit harsh. But even Lars Jacobsen looked half decent for a bit.

I think to be honest that we've been so starved of competent full backs, probably since Dicks and Breaker with an honourable mention for a brief period of a young Glen Johnson, that anyone who comes in and actually understands the job often looks a bit better than they really are until the novelty wears off and teams start to work out their weaknesses.

Re: Sébastien Schemmel
Should never have cut his hair. Didn't he do it as a losing bet between him and Sinclair - if Sincs scored in the last match of the season he had to cut it all off, and Trev promptly did?

I went there a couple of months back. No Seb but some of the worst food I have ever had the misfortune to consume! I think that he has copied the food served at Upton park to add to the authenticity. Shame, nice bloke from what I gather but no restauranteur.

Re: Sébastien Schemmel
Yes Huffers.
No one to my knowledge knows what the connection is between Seb and a Scottish footballer old enough to be his dad, apart from a sound a like surname.
Schemmell is reputed to have said " Who is zees Archie?" when told about his nickname.

Our younger fans will be none the wiser I expect.
